THE TASTE OF PHO is an adorable story about Long (40), a single vietnamese father, who lives in Warsaw and his half-polish daughter Mia (10). They never speak about the early death of the mother but keep it inside themselves. Mia notices her father’s absentmindedness but doesn’t know why. Long is an ambitious chef in a Vietnamese restaurant of his good friend Hien (60). After Hien decides to go back to Vietnam, Long starts longing for his old homeland as well. While the restaurant becomes a popular Asian fusion restaurant, Long feels more and more unwell and humiliated in this impersonal place. One day Mia discovers a beautiful woman Kasia (30) living opposite their apartment. Kasia resembles of her mother and Mia starts believing that she is the reason for Long’s recent change and observes her with binoculars. After Kasia tells Long about his daughter observing her, he harshly confronts Mia. This confrontation reveals unexpected honesty about their opposite needs and desires…
